Now that January’s here and we’re all trying to get a little more healthy I thought I’d share my favorite smoothie recipe. I make it for a meal-on-the-go or for “desert” after supper. Its a great way to sneak raw greens into your diet. My kids ask for seconds when I make this and according to my 10-year-old, “you can’t even taste the green stuff”. It’s not an exact science so feel free to play around with the ingredients.
1 c. frozen berries
1 medium ripe banana (must have some brown spots). I always keep frozen bananas in the freezer for smoothies, bread and cookies.
3 c. fresh spinach (or kale, or swiss chard – whatever you have on hand)
2 t. chia seeds (soaked in some water for 20 minutes) or ground flax seed.
1/2 – 1 cup plain greek yogurt (or your favorite yogurt)
drizzle of honey ( I prefer raw local honey)
water (add enough to reach your desired consistency)
Blend until smooth.
